The trip down here was a little rocky at first, but once I got to San Francisco everything went great.
I had a ten hour layover in Sydney and took full advantage. I checked my luggage into a holding place ($16 for 2 bags for 6 hours) and got a two way train ticket to the Central Quay for $19. (My pronunciation of the word was made fun of quite merceylessly, apparently it is obviously pronounced 'key' not 'kay'... stinkin' Aussies) I found the Opera house (which I did not take a tour of, mostly because I was not in the mood to be inside and $30 was cutting into my pocket cash a little deep). I spent most of my time in the Royal Botanical Garden- it was fantastic! I will have to post pictures of that when the university fixes my internet connection. The flight to Tassie was quick and painless, and the place I am staying in is lovely. My room is very nice (the view is spectacular!) and the people here are SO friendly (I only fear their attitudes will change when I tell them I do not drink- that seems to be VERY important here). The food is... well, it's mostly edible so far. And the bathrooms... wow. I think I got six STD's just from walking in there. I believe I came out of the shower dirtier than when I went in! Wed. is the big orientation, and I am sure I will get involved in many fun clubs when that comes around!
Great to hear from you, Mom and Em! Thanks for posting me comments!

Glad you have access to a computer to keep us up on TAS life. So much for luxuriating showers, eh? Peanut and I are looking at schedules. But we'd like to hear about your school schedule first - especially towards the middle of June. Please post your snail mail address. In case we'd like to send 'the real thing.' Looking forward to future blogs. Hugs.
Hi Katie!
It's me...Lizzie! I'm so glad you made it there safe and sound. It sounds like you're going to have a great time down there. You should buy some shower shoes while you're down there. Is it like living in the dorms again? Do you know your address yet? I'd like to send you some letters and such. Oh oh...yesterday I had my first real day of work and it was GREAT! Keep me updated. I LOVE YOU!
Love
Lizzie
Hey Katie!
I'm glad to hear you made it there allright, and it sounds like a very cool place. My roomate JC has been showing me pictures of Hobart, and i'm sure you'll have a blast there. If you make it to Auckland, here is my friend Liam's phone number: 0116498451200. I'm sure he would show you around. Have a great time!
Love,
Andrew
Horry! I'm posting a comment! I love your blog! And I'm glad to see you have so many Blog Fans! You should just tell people that you have a liver condition and you can't drink because of it...that will make them feel bad if they tease you about not drinking. Anyway, I won't ramble here because I just wrote you an uber-long email. Oh, I almost forgot, I made a blog too! There's nothing on it yet, but soon I'll get it going. Then we can be Blog Buddies! Hazzah! And I love you!
Hey Katie!
I finally figured out how to post a stupid comment this time--feeling a bit technically challenged at the moment. (Where's the clutch?!?!?!)
So glad you made it there safely; been thinking about you and your peanut butter jar. Let us know when you have a mailing address.
Best of luck,
Jenius
Yo, Bot! Sorry to hear you picked up the Tassie Herp on your first trip to the can. I guess you're going to become an ace at the hover technique after 4.5 months of practice. Good thigh workout, though. Rest up, do something awesome, take pictures of it, and post them here!
I'm with "Jenius" :) on this whole havin'trouble leavin comments or settin up an account business. We'll see if ya get this or not. Do you have just a regular email address too? Hope you're enjoyin Tasmania. Your loving third cousin or whatever the he#% we are, Sarah
Well, seems like that one worked. Here's the first one that didn't go through. Hey Katie! It's your cous, or whatever we are, from Mtown. That's awesome that you made this blog. Good luck with those STDs, man. Ganaria means I would win in Spanish, and my students try to use it in as many sentences as possible, and the giggles never get old. You're one of the coolest people I know. Kudos to you for all you've done for a lowly college goer. Have you seen any Tasmanian Devils there yet? Bruny Island, South East of Tasmania, looks gorgeous from my quick search of where you are. Happy travels. Peace. Sarah
Well, howdy, howdy. Finally figured out how to reply. It looks like you are having a blast. The clan here in PA all sends their love. We'll blog more now that we have solved the mystery.
